This notice explains what information is collected when you visit this website, why it is collected, and what choices you have.

Who is responsible for this site

This website is operated by Neil Sherman as a personal and professional portfolio. It is not a commercial organisation. You can contact me through the contact form on the home page.

What this site collects and why

This site does not collect any personal information by itself. No registration, login, or account is required.

If you choose to send a message using the contact form, the details you provide (your name, email address, and message) are transmitted to Formspree, a third-party form-handling service, which forwards them to me by email. Formspree acts as a data processor on my behalf and is bound by its own privacy policy. The data is used solely to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with anyone beyond Formspree's infrastructure for delivery.

When you interact with the contact form, Formspree may set a short-lived functional cookie in your browser. This cookie is strictly necessary for the form to operate securely (for example, to prevent spam and cross-site request forgery). It contains no personal data and is not used for tracking or advertising.

If you accept analytics cookies, this site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and use the site — for example, which pages are read most, how people arrive, and what device or browser they are using. This helps me understand whether the content is reaching the right audience.

Analytics cookies

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to distinguish visits and track usage patterns. IP addresses are anonymised before any data reaches Google's servers. No data that could directly identify you — such as your name or email — is collected.

The information collected includes:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• How you arrived at the site (search engine, direct link, referral)
• Approximate country and city (derived from anonymised IP)
• Device type, operating system, and browser

This data is processed by Google and governed by Google's privacy policy. Data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months.

Analytics cookies are only placed with your explicit consent, in line with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK GDPR. The legal basis for processing is consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK GDPR).

No other tracking

This site does not use advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or any third-party scripts other than Google Analytics (when consented), Google Fonts for typography, and Formspree for contact form submission (described above).

Google Fonts are loaded from Google's servers, which may log your IP address as part of a normal web request. No cookies are set by Google Fonts.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data held about you. In practice, this site holds very little:

• Contact form messages are held by Formspree during delivery and exist as email in my inbox. If you would like your message deleted, contact me via the contact form and I will delete the thread. For any data Formspree holds, you can also contact them directly under their privacy policy.
• Google Analytics data is anonymised before it reaches Google's servers. No identifier is stored that could be linked back to you, so there is nothing to retrieve or delete on an individual basis. You can also install a Google Analytics opt-out browser extension to prevent any future collection.
• Your cookie preference is stored only in your own browser. You can withdraw consent and clear it at any time using the button below — I have no access to it.

You also have the right to withdraw your analytics consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

Changes to this notice

If this notice changes in a material way, the "last updated" date above will be revised. As this is a personal site with very limited data collection, significant changes are unlikely.
